Power Restoration in Kyiv

According to Главком: Ukraine's energy company DTEK successfully restored electricity to more than 140,000 households in Kyiv following a night-time attack on June 2. Two DTEK employees were injured in the assault and remain hospitalized. The massive combined strike by Russian forces caused significant damage to power infrastructure and the company's production site in the capital.

Crews from DTEK Kyiv Electric Networks completed emergency repair work after the overnight assault. Residents in the Obolonskyi, Podilskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts were left without power. Damage of varying severity was recorded across eight districts of Kyiv, with the Shevchenkivskyi area particularly affected.

Strike Impact

The attack targeted several key locations, including:

  • residential buildings
  • five medical facilities
  • industrial sites
  • the Unit.City IT park infrastructure
  • the Unit.Home residential complex

At least six people were killed and more than 79 wounded in the capital. These events have left Kyiv in a state of heightened tension.

Restoring power to a large number of residents marks a crucial step in returning the city to a normal rhythm after the attack. However, the extensive damage to infrastructure and medical facilities underscores the severe consequences of the shelling, affecting public safety and well-being. The loss of life and numerous injuries highlight the ongoing strain on the region, demanding constant attention from authorities and emergency services.
