DTEK’s Wartime Investments

According to Главком: Despite severe challenges since the start of the full-scale invasion, DTEK has poured €2.4 billion into Ukraine’s economy, making it the country’s largest wartime investor. The company has continued operations even as its thermal power plants endured 220 attacks since 2022, with three out of eight facilities falling under occupation. These figures highlight the immense pressure on Ukraine’s energy sector during the conflict.

Building a Wind Farm During Wartime

Amid these difficulties, DTEK is finishing construction on Ukraine’s first wind farm built during the war, with a capacity of 500 MW. The total investment in this project amounts to €650 million. This initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening Ukraine’s energy independence.

DTEK’s Strategy Director Ivan Gelyukh emphasized the importance of these investments for the country during the war.

Upgrading infrastructure and launching new projects are essential for ensuring stability in the energy sector. Even under active military operations, DTEK continues to work on reinforcing Ukraine’s energy foundation.

DTEK’s push into wind energy not only showcases the company’s resilience but also underscores the critical need for Ukraine to transition to renewable power sources. As the war persists, developing new energy projects could be key to achieving energy independence and reducing reliance on traditional fuels. Such efforts also help preserve jobs and sustain the economy during these turbulent times.

As DTEK continues to bolster Ukraine’s energy landscape through significant investments, it is also making strides in restoring power to homes across the country. Recently, nearly two million households regained electricity in May, showcasing the company's commitment to improving energy access even amid ongoing challenges.
