According to МВС: Ukraine lost a dedicated border guard on July 15, 2024, when Master Sergeant Bohdan Kudyma succumbed to wounds he had sustained nearly two months earlier, on May 21, 2024. With over 19 years of service in the border guard, Kudyma had previously fought in the Anti-Terrorist Operation / Joint Forces Operation (ATO/JFO) in 2015 as part of the 'Pomsta' brigade.
How It Happened
While on duty near the village of Kurdiumivka on May 21, 2024, Kudyma was hit by multiple shrapnel wounds from an unmanned aerial vehicle attack. After being evacuated to a hospital, he was moved to intensive care in Dnipro and later transferred to a medical facility in Kyiv. Despite two months of intensive medical care, he passed away on July 15.
