Snowboarders Go Missing in Zakarpattia Mountains
According to ДСНС: Two snowboarders became lost in the Zakarpattia mountains after venturing off the designated safe trails. The incident occurred near the Dragobrat ski resort when the snowboarders, both residents of the Volyn region, were heading towards Mount Zhandarm and lost their bearings. The individuals, aged 16 and 25, were unable to find their way back to a secure area on their own. The Carpathian region's terrain can be treacherous, especially off-piste, even for those familiar with the area.
Mountain Rescue Team's Response
Mountain rescuers from the Rakhiv district were dispatched and successfully located the tourists around 12:30 AM using coordinates provided to them. The snowboarders did not require medical attention, and the rescuers provided them with hot tea to warm up. Following this, the rescue team escorted them back to their accommodation.
