According to Главком: On January 29, Ukrenergo, Ukraine's national energy company, ordered emergency electricity shutdowns in the Brovary and Boryspil districts of the Kyiv region. These measures come as Ukraine's energy grid remains under severe strain from Russian attacks. In the capital city of Kyiv, temporary scheduled blackouts replaced emergency outages starting at 00:00 on the same date. The city had endured over two weeks of emergency power cuts following Russian strikes. It is noted that during emergency outages, standard schedules do not apply.

Power Schedules and the National Energy Situation

Power outage schedules in Kyiv will be unique to each building and may be adjusted based on the country's overall energy situation. As of 9:30 AM on January 29, Ukraine's national electricity consumption had risen by 1.6% compared to the previous day. This increase is attributed to a reduced need for forced consumption restrictions in some regions.

DTEK, a major private energy provider, has appealed to residents of the Troieshchyna district regarding a critical energy situation there. Troieshchyna faces severe conditions due to a lack of centralized heating, leading to widespread use of electric heaters and other high-power appliances. The local electricity networks were not designed for such sustained overloads and are failing repeatedly.

• Avoid turning on high-power appliances for the first 30 minutes after power is restored;
• Use major electrical devices one at a time;
• Do not obstruct emergency repair crews, including through protests or road blockades.

The implementation of scheduled blackouts is intended to help manage consumption, but residents should be prepared for possible changes to the timetable.
