Electric cars receive green plates: the Ministry of Internal Affairs explained the rules for drivers

Ukrainian drivers are increasingly becoming owners of electric cars and hybrid vehicles. Special rules have been established for such vehicles regarding license plates. According to information from the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, electric transportation receives green plates, while hybrid cars use standard plates. All electric vehicles receive green number plates, while hybrid cars use standard ones. This applies to vehicles that operate only on electric power or combine an electric motor with an internal combustion engine. The registration procedure for electric cars and hybrids is similar, except for the type of plates. Electric car owners are given the option of paid storage of plates for future registration or sale of the vehicle. However, it is important to remember that green plates are intended only for the electric vehicles for which they were registered. The Ministry of Internal Affairs also advises owners to check the compliance of license plates with the type of engine of the vehicle before registration.
