Electronic ticket in public transport: how to pay if you don't have a smartphone
In Kropyvnytskyi, testing of the electronic ticket system in public transport has begun. So far, the new service operates in a limited mode and is available only for certain categories of passengers. At the same time, city authorities emphasize that even those without smartphones will be able to use the system. This is reported by Znay.
How the electronic ticket works in public transport
The new system allows payment for travel using a mobile application or a special transport card.
For this purpose, validators have already been installed in trolleybuses and buses. Passengers simply need to bring the card close to the device or scan the QR code through the application.
All information about trips will be automatically saved in the user's personal account. This allows for monitoring expenses and viewing the trip history.
Currently, the electronic ticket is being tested by representatives of privileged categories of the population.
What to do for passengers without smartphones
Developers have provided an alternative for those who do not use modern gadgets.
Special transport cards will be issued for such passengers, which can be purchased and topped up through terminals or special sales points.
The card will function like an electronic wallet. After replenishing the balance, the passenger will only need to bring it close to the validator when boarding.
In this way, elderly people or citizens who do not use smartphones will be able to continue to pay for travel without obstacles.
Why the system was launched in test mode
The city council decided to first check the operation of the electronic ticket under real conditions.
The testing will allow evaluating the stability of the validators, identifying possible technical flaws, and checking how convenient the system is for different categories of passengers.
During the testing period, traditional cash payment continues to operate without restrictions.
Experts note that the introduction of the electronic ticket not only simplifies the payment for travel but also makes the passenger transport market more transparent, as each trip is recorded in the system.
Let us remind you, in Rivne, an electronic ticket has been implemented in trolleybuses.
