Elina Svitolina reached the quarter-finals of WTA 1000 in Indian Wells
The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina continues her successful performance at the prestigious WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells, USA. The Ukrainian tennis player reached the quarter-finals after winning the 1/8 final match. This was reported by Suspilne Sport.
Svitolina in the WTA 1000 quarter-finals after the match with Sinyakova
In the match for a place in the 1/4 finals, Svitolina faced Czech representative Katerina Sinyakova. The Ukrainian dominated the first set and confidently won it with a score of 6:1.
In the second set with a score of 1:1, the Czech tennis player refused to continue the match due to health problems, which automatically granted victory to Svitolina.
For the Ukrainian athlete, this is already the second consecutive quarter-final at the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells.
WTA 1000: the next opponent will be Iga Swiatek
In the quarter-finals, Svitolina will play against the world's second racket, Iga Swiatek. The match between the tennis players is scheduled for March 12, starting no earlier than 23:30 Kyiv time.
In total, the Ukrainian tennis player has reached the quarter-finals of this tournament for the third time. Her best result was in 2019 when she reached the semi-finals.
