The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina reached the 1/8 final of the WTA 1000 tournament in American Indian Wells. In the third round match, the Ukrainian tennis player defeated American Ashlyn Krueger in two sets. This is reported by Suspilne Sport.
Elina Svitolina reached the 1/8 final in Indian Wells
In the third round of the tournament, Svitolina defeated American Ashlyn Krueger with a score of 6:4, 6:2. For the tennis players, this was their second head-to-head meeting - in the previous match at the same tournament last year, the Ukrainian also emerged victorious.
The match started with active play from Krueger, who won the first two games. However, Svitolina managed to quickly level the situation and regain control of the game.

Ukrainian players at the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells
Two representatives of Ukraine - Elina Svitolina and Marta Kostyuk - advanced to the third round of the prestigious tournament. However, Kostyuk could not continue the fight.
The Ukrainian lost to the third racket of the world, Yelena Rybakina from Kazakhstan, with the same score in two sets - 6:4, 6:4.
Thus, Svitolina became the only Ukrainian who continues to compete in the tournament.
In the 1/8 final match, she will meet Czech tennis player Kateřina Siniaková.
For Svitolina, this is already her sixth appearance in the 1/8 final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells. Previously, she managed to reach this stage twice - in 2019 and 2024.
It is worth reminding that Svitolina lost the final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai on February 21, 2026.
