Romania Shot Down a Russian Drone Over Its Borders

The Romanian Air Force intercepted a Russian drone in national airspace. Two F-16 fighter jets were scrambled to monitor the situation near the border with Ukraine due to Russian attacks on infrastructure on the Danube.

Later, the jets spotted the drone in Romanian airspace and accompanied it to a certain distance to the southwest of Chilia Veche. According to representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the drone did not pose a direct threat to the population as it was not above populated areas.

The ministry urged citizens to follow the safety measures provided in the RO-ALERT message and to remain calm in response to the situation. It is worth noting that Romania and Poland had previously declared an air alert due to the threat of Russian drones near their borders.

As a result, the Russian drone was shot down as a result of interception by the Romanian military. The situation remains tense as the actions of Russian drones near the borders of European countries provoke serious outrage and security measures.
