Fedorov: elections through “Diya” are not planned, legal changes are needed
Position of the Ministry of Digital Transformation
According to Главком: The Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov stated that holding presidential elections using the “Diya” application is not planned and is not being discussed at a practical level. He emphasized that the issue of voting through “Diya” is currently only being discussed at the level of public debates, and legislative changes are needed to implement this idea.
Election and its organization
David Arakhamia, the head of the “Servant of the People” faction, also noted that elections could take place through hybrid voting. He pointed out that elections are only possible if appropriate peaceful conditions are established. It is worth noting that holding future elections may cost at least 20 billion UAH, while the last presidential elections in 2019 cost about 2 billion UAH.
The first meeting of the special working group dealing with election issues took place on December 26. This group aims to develop possible options and conditions for holding elections in Ukraine.
The situation surrounding the holding of elections in Ukraine remains complicated due to the need to adapt to new conditions. The high costs of organizing elections and the need for peaceful conditions for their conduct indicate that the process may be prolonged. Discussions about using technologies such as the “Diya” application underscore the desire to modernize the electoral process, but many uncertainties still need to be resolved at the legislative level.
