According to Главком: On June 3, the public prosecutor's office in Brest announced that the captain of the Russian oil tanker Tagor had been taken into custody. The vessel was intercepted by French authorities on May 31. Operating under a fraudulent Cameroonian flag, the ship is part of Russia's so-called shadow fleet. The captain, a Russian national, now faces up to one year in prison and a fine of 150,000 euros, in addition to the potential seizure of the vessel.

The Tagor was stopped roughly 740 kilometers off the coast of Brittany while en route to the port of Limbé in Cameroon, having departed from Murmansk, Russia. This marks the fourth time in the past year that France has intercepted a Russian shadow fleet vessel. After its detention, the tanker was brought to the Bay of Douarnenez in Brittany, where it will be handed over to investigative authorities for further proceedings.

The United Kingdom has confirmed its involvement in the operation that led to the Tagor's detention. Penalties for the captain include a one-year prison sentence, a 150,000-euro fine, and confiscation of the ship. Similar sanctions also apply to the vessel's owner.
