Licensed Production of Long-Range Missiles and Air Defense Systems to Be Established in Ukraine by G7
At the G7 Summit in Évian
According to ХВИЛЯ: During the summit, leaders from the United States and European nations announced plans to launch licensed manufacturing of long-range missiles and air defense systems within Ukraine. This decision marks a significant move to bolster the country's military capabilities amid the ongoing conflict.
The G7 leaders agreed to scale up deliveries of air defense equipment, including additional systems and interceptors, alongside long-range strike assets. Under the new framework, American companies will be authorized to issue licenses to European manufacturers, which is expected to ramp up production volumes in Ukraine.
“Currently, we are all producing too little, and this can be offset by granting licenses to companies with the necessary capacities, including European and Ukrainian firms,” said Friedrich Merz.
Strengthening Air Defense
Discussions on military aid also highlighted that Ukrainian forces deploy roughly 20 Patriot system missiles during each large-scale attack. This underscores the urgent need for further reinforcement of the country's air defense network.
“The key outcome: we agreed on additional strengthening of Ukraine’s air defense,” stated President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Notably, U.S.-mediated peace negotiations were suspended in early March due to the conflict in the Middle East. Meanwhile, Washington has reinstated some sanctions on Russian oil, signaling continued pressure on Moscow.
“It’s great that everyone understands: Russia will not win, and we must pressure Putin to end this war,” Zelensky concluded, emphasizing the critical role of international support in Ukraine’s fight for independence.
French President Emmanuel Macron also invited Zelensky to stay until the summit’s conclusion, demonstrating unity and backing from Western allies. The decisions made at the G7 summit represent a pivotal step in enhancing Ukraine’s defensive strength in the face of aggression.
The commitments reached at the G7 summit underscore Western nations’ dedication to supporting Ukraine in its struggle for sovereignty and territorial integrity. Establishing licensed weapons production within Ukraine could significantly boost its defensive capabilities, which is vital given the current military situation. These actions also reflect a strategic alignment among Western partners in countering Russian aggression, potentially carrying long-term implications for regional security.
In light of the recent commitments from the G7, the focus on enhancing Ukraine's military capabilities is more critical than ever. The latest air defense systems and long-range weaponry pledged will play a vital role in strengthening the nation's defense against ongoing threats. This strategic support aligns with the urgent need to bolster Ukraine's air defense infrastructure as highlighted during the summit discussions.
