G7+ Group Holds Emergency Meeting on Ukraine's Energy Support

According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukraine has convened an urgent coordination meeting of the G7+ group to discuss energy support, where international partners announced substantial new aid packages. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko confirmed the assistance includes over 6,000 units of large-scale energy equipment and financial contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. This support is crucial as Ukraine's energy grid has been a primary target of Russian attacks, especially ahead of the harsh winter months.

Participants at the meeting reviewed the current state of Ukraine's energy sector and the costs of restoring infrastructure damaged by military action. Representatives from the attending nations announced the following specific contributions:

  • The European Union will provide 447 generators;
  • The United Kingdom has contributed nearly 23 million euros to the Fund;
  • The United States will allocate over 400 million dollars for humanitarian projects to support Ukrainians this winter;
  • Germany is providing 60 million euros in financial support and additional equipment, including 33 cogeneration units, 15 mobile hybrid generators, 300 photovoltaic installations, 375 battery units, and 31 boiler plants;
  • Italy is directing 10 million euros to the Support Fund, with a further 50 million euros budgeted for 2026;
  • Lithuania will transfer 90 generators;
  • France will supply over 100 generators with a total capacity of 13 MW;
  • Japan will ensure the provision of 140 small and medium-power generators, 60 transformers, 2 cogeneration units, and repair equipment.

Yuliia Svyrydenko expressed gratitude to the partners for both the aid already delivered and that which will arrive in the country soon. She also invited meeting participants to visit Ukraine to witness firsthand the consequences of Russian shelling and its impact on the lives of Ukrainians.

This G7+ meeting underscores the vital importance of international support for Ukraine's energy security, particularly during winter when the need for a stable power supply is critical. The aid packages announced provide Ukraine with the means to repair damaged infrastructure and supply its population with essential resources, representing a significant step in sustaining the country amid ongoing hostilities.
