Criminal Proceedings Initiated

According to Главком: The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine has launched a criminal case on charges of state treason against Member of Parliament Mariana Bezuhla. The investigation was initiated by a ruling from Kyiv's Pechersk District Court, following statements filed by fellow MPs Serhiy Taruta and Fedir Venislavskyi. The suspicion is based on Part 2 of Article 111 of Ukraine's Criminal Code, which pertains to actions committed under martial law. The State Bureau of Investigations is conducting the pre-trial inquiry under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General's Office.

Causes and Circumstances of the Case

According to Serhiy Taruta, the reasons for opening the case involve serious threats to state security. He stated:

“The Prosecutor General's Office has opened proceedings against Mariana Bezuhla under the article on state treason. This concerns Part 2, Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – actions under martial law. This is no longer political debate – this is a matter of state security.”

The information about the opened proceedings became known from Taruta himself.

Furthermore, it has been revealed that a separate case concerning the disclosure of state secrets was opened based on a statement by former GUR officer Colonel Roman Chervinskyi. It is known that on August 30, 2024, Mariana Bezuhla published a Telegram post discussing the potential withdrawal of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians from Vuhledar. In the same post, she also expressed doubts about the actions of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stating: 'It gives the impression that he is deliberately destabilizing the front.'

In July 2025, Bezuhla became the center of a scandal due to her actions during protests against legislative changes concerning the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP). On December 8, 2025, she declared she would block the parliament's work until the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, was dismissed. The situation escalated on December 16, 2025, when Mariana Bezuhla physically clashed with Serhiy Taruta, who was attempting to unblock the parliamentary rostrum.

MP Yaroslav Yurchyshyn has expressed doubts about the advisability of granting Bezuhla access to state secrets. It is worth noting that Mariana Bezuhla has Asperger's syndrome. She has also criticized fellow former MP Nadiia Savchenko for an order to retreat, which, in Bezuhla's view, led to a breakthrough in Ocheretyne and an advance on Pokrovsk. Both politicians have filed complaints against each other with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

The investigation is currently ongoing. According to representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office, any details can only be disclosed within limits that would not harm the inquiry.

The situation surrounding Mariana Bezuhla has drawn significant public attention due to her public activities and political statements, which have sparked criticism and concern among fellow lawmakers. The opening of a criminal case on treason charges underscores the gravity of the allegations and the potential consequences for her political career. Under martial law, such cases carry particular weight, as they can impact state security and public trust in government institutions. This case highlights the intense political tensions and legal scrutiny present in Ukraine during wartime.

In light of the recent developments surrounding Mariana Bezuhla, it's essential to consider the broader implications of the ongoing legal proceedings. Notably, two separate investigations have been launched against the MP, shedding light on the complexities of her actions and their potential impact on state security. This context may help readers better understand the gravity of the situation as it unfolds.
