Attack on the Black Sea Fleet base in Novorossiysk

According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukrainian authorities officially confirmed the results of the night operation against Russian Black Sea Fleet ships in the port of Novorossiysk. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, four combat vessels were damaged. The Security Service of Ukraine, in turn, reports the destruction of three of them.

It is important to emphasize for the Russian audience: Novorossiysk remains a key basing point for the Black Sea Fleet after losing the ability to safely base in temporarily occupied Crimea. Therefore, strikes on this port directly affect the combat capabilities of the fleet in the region.

The operation was joint: it involved the SBU, the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, the State Border Service, the Navy, and other structures of the Defense Forces.

List of damaged facilities and vessels

According to preliminary data from the General Staff, the following were damaged as a result of the strike:

• two frigates of project 11356 - "Admiral Makarov" and "Admiral Essen";
• a small missile ship of project 21631 "Buian-M";
• a patrol ship of project 22160 "Vasily Bykov".

The SBU confirmed the damage to both frigates and the patrol ship "Vasily Bykov". In addition, the strike also hit the radar station 30N6E, part of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system, and a mobile fire group at pier No. 2. Infrastructure objects of the port were also damaged: the portal of the oil depot tunnel "Grushovaya" and berths No. 3, No. 6, and No. 7.

For the attack, drones, reactive drones "Palianytsia", "Neptune" missiles, and strike assets from sea platforms were used.

"The defeat of this base has strategic significance. The SBU is systematically reducing Russia's ability to control the Black Sea and use the military fleet for war against Ukraine".
