Frontline Situation as of April 18, 2023

According to Главком: As of 10:00 PM on April 18, 2023, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported intense combat engagements across multiple fronts, particularly in the Pokrovsk sector. Since the start of the day, Russian forces have carried out 47 airstrikes, dropped a record 135 guided aerial bombs, and deployed 6,140 kamikaze drones. The frontline saw 135 separate clashes and 2,553 artillery strikes targeting Ukrainian positions and settlements.

Enemy Casualties and Activity

Significant enemy losses were recorded in the Pokrovsk sector. Over the course of the day, 72 occupiers were killed and 20 wounded. Concurrently, Ukrainian forces destroyed:

  • 7 units of automotive equipment;
  • 3 units of special equipment;
  • 3 electronic warfare systems;
  • damaged 2 artillery systems;
  • 4 units of automotive equipment;
  • 14 personnel shelters.

In total, 206 unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed or suppressed in the Pokrovsk sector.

Combat activity intensified on other fronts. On the North-Slobozhanske and Kursk directions, 2 clashes occurred, with 1 airstrike and 58 artillery strikes recorded. On the South-Slobozhanske direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 3 assaults in the areas of Starytsia and Vovchansk. On the Kupiansk direction, the enemy conducted 3 assaults toward Novoplatonivka and Pishchane, with 2 ongoing engagements.

On the Lyman direction, 6 offensive attempts were recorded toward Lyman, Stavky, Novosergiivka, and Drobycheve. On the Sloviansk direction, 3 attacks occurred near Yampil and toward Rai-Oleksandrivka. On the Kramatorsk direction, 4 attacks took place in the areas of Nykyforivka, Minkivka, and toward Mykolaivka. On the Kostiantynivka direction, the enemy launched 17 assaults near Kostiantynivka, Pleshiivka, Illinivka, and other locations, with 1 engagement ongoing.

On the Oleksandrivsk direction, 6 attacks were noted toward Kalinivsky, Verbove, and Oleksandragrad, accompanied by airstrikes on Velykomykhailivka, Kolomiitsi, Andriivka, Fedorivske, and Vovche. On the Huliaipole direction, 11 attacks were recorded toward Sviatopetrivka, Staroukrainka, and other settlements, with airstrikes in a number of districts.

As of today, it is the 1,515th day of the full-scale war in Ukraine. This sustained high-intensity combat underscores the war's protracted nature and the immense pressure on Ukrainian defenses along a vast frontline.

The escalation of fighting across various sectors indicates a sharpening of the conflict and increased intensity of strikes from both sides.
