Russian Command Posts Near Donetsk Confirmed Hit by Ukraine's General Staff

Strikes Launched by Ukraine's Defense Forces

According to ХВИЛЯ: On August 26 and into the early hours of August 27, Ukrainian forces hit multiple Russian targets. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that both a primary and a backup command post in the Donetsk area were struck, along with other sites. Monitoring groups Exilenova+ and KiberBoroshno reported that missiles landed in the underground parking garage of an unfinished residential complex in central Donetsk, a location believed to have served as the command post of Russia's 51st Combined Arms Army. These attacks fit into a broader Ukrainian effort to target key Russian military infrastructure.

In addition, a Russian repair-and-recovery unit was hit near Chongar in the Kherson region, and a drone control station was destroyed in Olenivka in Russian-occupied Crimea. Ukrainian troops also struck concentrations of occupying forces near Novopetrivka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast and in the Voskhod area of occupied Crimea. The full scale of damage and enemy losses is still being determined.

Oil Refinery Targeted

Separately, on August 25, the Afipsky oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar Krai came under attack. Additional data analysis confirmed damage to the refinery's ELOU-AT process unit, a gas fractionation unit, and a section of pipeline. The ELOU-AT unit is critical to processing crude oil at the facility.

Ukraine's General Staff said: 'In the Donetsk city area, air-launched missiles struck the main and backup command posts of the Russian occupiers.'

The military also noted that 'efforts against key enemy targets are continuing.'

These operations reflect Ukraine's active resistance to Russian aggression, with a particular focus on destroying crucial military and logistics assets. Successful hits on command nodes and infrastructure demonstrate the growing operational strength of Ukraine's armed forces, which could reshape the strategic picture on the battlefield. Continued fighting in the Donetsk and Kherson regions, combined with strikes deeper inside Russia, underscores the persistent nature of the war and raises concerns about further escalation.
