General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on April 17: 118 combat clashes and thousands of drone strikes

Summary of combat actions as of April 17

According to Главком: The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released a summary of combat actions, reporting significant enemy activity in various sectors of the front. Over the course of the day, there were 118 combat clashes, and the invader launched 1 missile strike using 1 missile. The number of airstrikes since the beginning of the day is 38, and 128 guided aerial bombs were dropped. The enemy employed 4031 kamikaze drones and carried out 2396 shellings of settlements and positions of Ukrainian troops.

Situation in the front sectors

In the Pokrovsk direction, according to preliminary data, the enemy lost 48 invaders in one day, 14 of whom were wounded. The following was destroyed:

• 1 artillery system
• 3 units of automotive equipment
• 8 units of special equipment
• 1 shelter for personnel

Additionally, 1 tank, 2 artillery systems, and 5 units of automotive equipment were damaged. A total of 247 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types were eliminated or suppressed in the Pokrovsk direction.

Combat actions have also been recorded in other front sectors. In particular, there were 3 combat clashes in the Northern Sloboda and Kursk directions, while the enemy launched 2 air strikes, dropping 5 aerial bombs. In total, there were 82 shellings of settlements and military positions in these directions, of which 4 shellings were conducted using reactive multiple launch rocket systems.

In the Southern Sloboda direction, the enemy stormed the positions of units in the vicinity of Vovchansk Huts. In the Kupiansk direction, defenders repelled 1 enemy assault towards Petro-Pavlivka. In the Lyman direction, the enemy made 2 attempts to advance towards Hrekivka and in the direction of Lyman, while in the Sloviansk direction, the enemy attacked twice in the area of Yampil and in the direction of Rai-Oleksandrivka, where 1 combat clash is ongoing.

Moreover, in the Kostiantynivka direction, defense forces repelled 18 enemy assaults in the areas of Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultine, Pleshchiyivka, Illinivka, Rusyn Yar, Stepaniivka, Sofiivka, and Novopavlivka, with 2 ongoing combat clashes. In the Oleksandrivka direction, the occupiers attempted to improve their position 8 times, and in the Huliaipilske direction, there were 11 enemy attacks. The full-scale war in Ukraine has now entered its 1514th day.

The General Staff report highlights the continuation of intense combat actions on the front from both sides.

Having lost a significant amount of equipment and personnel, the enemy continues to attempt to improve its positions while Ukrainian forces are actively resisting attacks and repelling assaults. The situation remains tense, indicating a high likelihood of further combat actions in the near future.
