OSCE Leadership's Diplomatic Tour

According to Главком: OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Ignazio Cassis and Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioğlu held talks in Kyiv and Moscow on February 5, 2026, in a significant diplomatic push. Their first meeting was with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss the fallout from recent attacks and ongoing diplomatic efforts.

President Zelenskyy briefed the OSCE officials on the consequences of Russia's massed assaults. The discussions covered diplomatic processes and expectations for trilateral delegation meetings scheduled for the current week. The visit also saw the presentation of various instruments designed to support post-conflict peacebuilding should hostilities cease. Furthermore, the meeting focused on potential future formats for cooperation between Ukraine and the OSCE. This visit underscores the OSCE's continued, though challenging, role as a forum for European security dialogue.

Moscow Negotiations

Following the Kyiv talks, Cassis and Sinirlioğlu traveled to Moscow, where the OSCE Chairperson met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Ignazio Cassis emphasized that:

'Dialogue requires the involvement of all parties. In this way, the OSCE reaffirms its role as a platform for dialogue and its readiness to support efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace, in accordance with international law and the Helsinki Principles.' Ignazio Cassis

Consequently, this high-level OSCE visit signals an intensification of diplomatic efforts to address the conflict and support regional peace. Engaging both sides in dialogue could represent a crucial step toward stabilizing the situation in Ukraine and ensuring security in Europe. Amid ongoing escalation, such activity by international organizations may be critically important for creating the conditions for a peaceful settlement.
