Andrea Kimi Antonelli currently leads the championship standings with 156 points. Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton has 90 points, while George Russell of Mercedes has accumulated 88. Next Round of Formula 1
The next Formula 1 event is scheduled from June 12 to 14 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Montmeló. Last year's Spanish Grand Prix was won by McLaren driver Oscar Piastri.
Frederik Vesti, who will participate in the practice session, has received positive feedback from his team. Toto Wolff, the Mercedes team principal, commented:
'Fred plays a key role in our development work on the W17 and helps us better understand how to unlock the car's potential. This session will be a good opportunity for him to connect simulator work with the real car, and for us to gather another useful set of data as we continue working toward further progress.' It is worth noting that the Las Vegas Grand Prix has signed a 10-year contract with Formula 1, keeping the event on the calendar through the 2037 season. This underscores the enduring global appeal of Formula 1 and its events.
This situation highlights the crucial role of reserve drivers in Formula 1, as they get the chance to showcase their skills and contribute to team development. Given Andrea Kimi Antonelli's championship lead, his absence from the practice session could significantly impact the team's preparation for the upcoming race. The Spanish Grand Prix promises to be an exciting event, especially considering Oscar Piastri's victory last year and the current drivers' championship standings.
As the Formula 1 calendar continues to evolve, the recent announcement regarding the Las Vegas Grand Prix highlights the sport's commitment to expanding its global footprint. This long-term deal not only secures the future of the event but also reflects the increasing popularity of Formula 1 worldwide.
