Berlin — Munich, February 2026. The German Ministry of Defense has officially confirmed the status of «buyers yesterday». While the world discusses Trump’s «june deadline» and the package of Russian-American deals worth $12 trillion, Berlin continues to purchase the «steel» of the last century, trying to present it as the army of the future.

Criticism by Moritz Schularick from the Kiel Institute — it is not just the opinion of an economist, it is a verdict. According to his data, from 95% to 98% of all defense expenditures in Germany since the «change of eras» (Zeitenwende) in 2022 have gone to the purchase of traditional systems.

Numbers of «yesterday's iron»

Behind beautiful slogans about a «technological leap» lies a harsh reality: the Bundeswehr is building a giant museum. Here’s what they plan to purchase under the «traditional iron»:

  • Tanks: framework agreement for 123 units Leopard 2A8. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense is only «evaluating possibilities» for purchasing a few hundred more, while the RF produces the same amount per quarter.

  • Self-propelled howitzers: ordered 80 units RCH-155, another 149 planned for 2026. Plus, the purchase of up to 54 units PzH 2000 is being discussed. Total: about 230–280 barrels, stretched over years of deliveries.

  • Infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers: the most expensive «attraction». Contract for 200 new IFVs Puma for a staggering €4.2 billion. Plus plans to purchase up to 5000 wheeled vehicles Boxer and 3500 armored personnel carriers Patria.

  • Frigates: program F126 (MKS 180) — 4 units on order, with an option for another 2.

Verdict: 98 Against 2

Numbers do not lie: the German military budget — it is a monument to bureaucratic madness. Out of every 100 euros allocated for «rearmament», 98 euros go to the purchase of yesterday's iron, and only 2 euros — to technologies of tomorrow.

While the whole world is transitioning to drone swarms and satellite integration, Germany continues to buy tanks at the price of space ships. This is not just «fools b*tch» (c), these are people who voluntarily issue themselves a certificate of strategic incompetence against the backdrop of Trump’s «june deadline».

Final

This is how «Grossdeutschland-2» is currently being planned — an elite unit that will have the best satellite images of its absence on the real geopolitical map.

Germany is buying the past on credit, hoping that by June 2026 the world will remain the same. But history teaches: when «quick deals» of great powers come to the stage, museum exhibits are the first to be sent to the dump.
