Which Ukrainian clubs will play in the Champions League: all 36 participants of the tournament have been determined
In the Champions League, the qualification has concluded, revealing the complete lineup of 36 clubs for the main stage. Ukraine will be represented in the most prestigious European tournament by Donetsk's Shakhtar, which found itself in the third pot before the draw, writes OBOZ.UA.
Who will play in the main stage of the Champions League
The participants have been divided into four pots of nine teams each. The first pot includes PSG, Bayern, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Inter, Manchester City, Arsenal, Barcelona, and Atletico.
The second pot consists of Borussia Dortmund, Roma, Sporting, Aston Villa, Porto, Manchester United, Brugge, Betis, and PSV.
Along with Shakhtar, the third pot includes Feyenoord, Lille, Bodo/Glimt, Napoli, Leipzig, Villarreal, Fenerbahce, and Galatasaray.
The fourth pot features Slavia, Slovan Bratislava, Stuttgart, AEK Athens, LASK, Como, Lens, Viking, and Sabah.
When will Shakhtar learn its opponents in the Champions League
The draw for the main stage will take place on August 27 at 19:00 Kyiv time. After this, it will be revealed who «Shakhtar» will play their eight matches against.
The tournament will again be conducted under the Swiss system. Instead of traditional groups, all 36 clubs will form a single table, and each participant will play eight matches against different opponents.
Based on the results of this stage, the teams that finish in the top eight places will immediately advance to the Round of 16. Clubs positioned from 9th to 24th will continue to compete in an additional play-off round.
