New Rehabilitation System in Ukraine: What Changed on January 1

According to Міністерство Здоров'я: As of January 1, 2025, a new system for assessing the everyday functioning of individuals started operating in Ukraine. One of the main tools of this system is the individual rehabilitation program (IRP). This program consists of medical and rehabilitation services, social and psychological support, assistive rehabilitation devices, as well as educational and professional recommendations.

• The medical component of the IRP is developed by a specialized team, taking into account the health status and daily needs of the individual.

The IRP is valid while the individual has a disability status but can be updated at their request. After the appropriate decision is made, the person receives a document with recommendations. With this document, they can seek assistance from various institutions - from hospitals and employment centers to schools and universities - depending on their needs.

It is important to note that previously created individual rehabilitation programs remain in effect and are not canceled by the introduction of the new system.

The new system for assessing the everyday functioning of individuals in Ukraine takes into account the individual needs of each person with a disability, helping to provide them with the necessary support and services to improve their quality of life.
