Release of fish in the Kremenchuk Reservoir
У Кременчуцькому водосховищі випустили 18,5 тонн риби: які наслідки це матиме для довкілля.

According to Мін. Економіки: Fish stocking of the Kremenchuk Reservoir was conducted in the Poltava and Cherkasy regions. 18.5 tons of white and striped grass carp were released, made possible by funds raised in auctions.

The event was organized with the participation of representatives from various government institutions, including the Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky, the Head of the State Agency for Melioration and Fisheries of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko, and others.

'In 2025, the revenue from the increase in the starting price of lots at the auctions for the Kremenchuk reservoir amounted to 1.7 million UAH. With this money, fish stocking material was purchased, and the stocking with herbivorous fish species was carried out.'

As a result of the fish stocking, 18.5 tons of grass carp were released, divided between the Cherkasy and Poltava regions. These measures are aimed not only at enriching fish stocks but also at improving the ecological situation in the water bodies and ensuring food security for the community.

The grass carp plays an important role in the ecosystem by filtering water and restraining the growth of algae. Artificial fish stocking has become the only way to support the population of this fish in the water bodies of Ukraine.

The stocking of the Kremenchuk Reservoir is an important step toward improving the ecosystem of the water bodies in southern Ukraine and will also contribute to ensuring food security for local communities.
