Fly2Galicia Takes Off

According to УНІАН — Туризм: Fly2Galicia, a Spanish budget airline, is set to offer direct connections between Santiago de Compostela and eight European cities starting December 1, 2026. All departures will use Santiago–Rosalía de Castro Airport. Three of the new routes stay within Spain:

  • Alicante
  • Granada
  • Zaragoza

The remaining five link the city to international destinations:

  • Brussels
  • Prague
  • Munich
  • Venice
  • Milan

Bookings are already live, with the cheapest fare from Milan to Santiago de Compostela starting at €41. From Brussels, Prague, and Venice, prices begin at €51, while Munich starts at €71. One important detail: the first flights won't be operated by Fly2Galicia itself. Instead, another European airline, whose name hasn't been announced, will operate them.

A Glimpse at Santiago de Compostela

Santiago de Compostela is a city rich in history and culture, holding UNESCO World Heritage Site status. Visitors often stop at Mercado de Abastos, a market celebrated for its seafood and locally sourced products. Those heading to the area can also explore nearby destinations such as A Coruña, Vigo, and the Rías Baixas.

This new low-cost service could make the historic city much easier to reach for people across Europe, while offering travelers convenient routing and competitive fares.

The introduction of these routes has the potential to reshape access to the region, likely drawing more visitors to Santiago de Compostela and surrounding towns. It could also strengthen air transport links, attracting both tourists and business travelers from elsewhere in Europe. If the venture succeeds, it may pave the way for deeper cooperation between the area and international carriers, and give a welcome boost to local businesses.
