According to glavcom.ua: The organizers and sponsors of the concert by Ukrainian pianist Alexander Romanovsky in Bologna decided to cancel the event. The decision was made after his performance on the ruins of the bombed Drama Theater in Mariupol, where he described this performance as a sign of support for the people in eastern Ukraine and a contribution to reconciliation.
«After the cancellation of the concert scheduled for July 27 in Italy, the Kremlin-affiliated conductor Valery Gergiev, the concert of Ukrainian pianist Alexander Romanovsky has now also been canceled. He was supposed to perform on August 5 in Bologna», – the relevant statement reported.
The mayor of Bologna, Matteo Lepore, and the sponsors of the event announced Alexander Romanovsky's withdrawal from participating in the concert scheduled for August 5. The pianist has also been suspended from his position as a professor at the Royal College of Music in London.
