Hero of Ukraine Ruslan Prus: the story of the life and death of the defender of Bakhmut

On May 23, 2023, while performing a combat mission on the western outskirts of Bakhmut, Ronin suffered fatal injuries from artillery shelling. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing the Chernivtsi Regional Council.
Ruslan Prus was born on October 11, 1982, in the village of Khropotova in the Kamianets-Podilskyi district of the Khmelnytskyi region. He received an education at the Faculty of Physical Culture of Kamianets-Podilskyi National University named after Ivan Ohiienko, worked in a lyceum with enhanced military-physical training, participated in the ATO in Donbas, and later moved abroad. After returning to military service, he joined the 107th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and became the deputy commander of the fire support company of the 97th separate battalion. Ruslan was a lover of sports, military affairs, and children.
“All of them are heroes who deserve the highest gratitude. They defended their Ukrainian land from enemy artillery and tanks. I am proud of him, his resilience and patriotism... Convincing our father not to go protect us would have been a huge humiliation for him. Many will not understand this, but he was a real hero. A brave, courageous, and daring hero,” said his wife, Tetiana.
Ruslan Prus was buried in the city of Novodnistrovsk in Bukovina, where his family lived.
After the mission on the western outskirts of Bakhmut, Ruslan Prus suffered fatal injuries from artillery shelling; his years of service, patriotism, and love for Ukraine will always be remembered.
