Ukraine to Provide One-Time Payment of 1500 Hryvnias to 13 Million Citizens

Targeted Aid for Vulnerable Groups

According to Главком: The Ukrainian government is preparing a targeted one-time payment for vulnerable citizens in April. Nearly 13 million people are set to receive this support, which amounts to 1500 hryvnias each. This initiative is part of broader social protection efforts during a period of significant economic strain. The payment will be provided to the following groups:

• Pensioners,
• Recipients of disability benefits,
• Low-income individuals,
• Those receiving basic social assistance,
• Internally displaced persons,
• Families with children.

The funds will be distributed as a single payment in April under existing budget programs of the Ministry of Social Policy. Payments will be made to special bank accounts or delivered via Ukrposhta, the national postal service. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also directed the preparation of several support programs aimed at improving the financial situation of vulnerable segments of the population.

YeYasla Childcare Program

Separately, in early March, monthly child benefit payments under the YeYasla program began. This program provides 8,000 hryvnias per month and is available after a child turns one year old. The YeYasla funds can be used to pay for a nanny, an assistant, or kindergarten, offering families practical support for daily childcare needs.

These measures highlight the Ukrainian government's efforts to assist vulnerable groups amidst ongoing economic challenges. The one-time payment and the YeYasla program are designed to alleviate financial pressure on families facing hardship due to the war and economic crises. These initiatives are expected to form part of a wider social support strategy incorporating various programs to improve the lives of Ukrainian citizens.
