Ukraine Allocates 789 Million UAH to Shield Vital Highways from Drone Threats
Funding to Fortify Key Roadways Against Drone Attacks
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers has approved a budget allocation of 789 million hryvnias from the state’s reserve fund to implement anti-drone measures along critical highways essential to national defense. These funds will be distributed between the Recovery Agency and the military administrations of frontline regions. Given the enemy’s increasing use of drones, the installation of protective systems will begin immediately and aims for rapid completion to secure priority logistics corridors.
Regional Budget Breakdown
Out of the total budget, 357 million hryvnias will be allocated to the Recovery Agency, while 432 million hryvnias will support the regional military administrations. The funds are designated for the following oblasts:
- Zaporizhzhia Oblast – 172.6 million UAH
- Chernihiv Oblast – 105 million UAH
- Dnipropetrovsk Oblast – 70.7 million UAH
- Donetsk Oblast – 60 million UAH
- Kherson Oblast – 24 million UAH
Work on anti-drone defenses has been ongoing since April 2025. The State Special Transport Service has already equipped 2,013 kilometers of strategic routes with drone protection. The Ministry of Defense has endorsed the list of priority projects. Vitaliy Kindrativ emphasized that
“uninterrupted logistics are fundamental to the country’s defense capabilities.”
He added that the enemy systematically targets infrastructure and transport with drones, necessitating enhanced protection for critical routes.
This government decision ensures resources are focused on the most strategically important road segments for defense needs. Serhiy Koretsky stressed the urgency, stating
“work must start without delay and be completed as quickly as possible,”
highlighting the critical nature of this initiative for national security.
