Kateryna Osadcha Reflects on Vacation with Kids

According to РБК-Україна — Lite: Ukrainian TV host and journalist Kateryna Osadcha recently shared candid thoughts on Instagram about the realities of family holidays. She observed that during trips, mothers often turn into round-the-clock activity coordinators, constantly fulfilling their children's requests. Osadcha urged moms to abandon strict routines, let themselves sleep longer, eat junk food occasionally, engage in play with their kids, and never turn down assistance.

“Every parent with children living in Ukraine desperately wants to take their kid to the sea, a river, the countryside-anywhere. And we, as parents, imagine ourselves lying down, opening a book, reading, and relaxing. But no. Twenty-four seven, we serve our children’s wishes. Mom is the entertainment director, mom is the one who dreams up fun, mom buys, mom cooks, mom feeds, mom amuses-and all of it falls on her alone. So when does mom get to rest?”

The Importance of Being an Imperfect Mother

She also spoke from her own experience about the necessity of letting go of perfectionism in order to get any real downtime.

“Being an imperfect mom is the key to at least some rest, at least for me personally. Not living by a schedule, sleeping a bit longer, allowing something unhealthy, sitting an extra half hour to play, and not refusing help when it’s offered.”

Osadcha is the mother of three boys: Illia (born in 2002 from her first marriage to Oleh Polishchuk), Ivan (2017), and Danylo (2021) from her marriage to Yuriy Gorbunov. She married Gorbunov in 2017. At the time of this publication, her eldest son Illia is 23 years old.

In closing, Osadcha emphasized that accepting help whenever it’s available is crucial, because these moments become lasting memories. Parents can look back fondly at photos of their children when they were small, even recalling moments like them fighting on the beach.

“If there’s someone who can help-let them help. This is really the time we’ll remember, we’ll enjoy scrolling through phone photos of how little they were, how they fought on the beach.”

Kateryna Osadcha’s reflections capture a reality many parents face: trying to balance relaxation with their children’s needs. Her comments highlight the importance of both physical and emotional rest for parents, which can strengthen family bonds. Those who are able to receive help can better savor shared time with their kids and create unforgettable moments. Such insights can be valuable for anyone seeking a healthier balance between parental duties and personal time.

In a similar vein, Ukrainian actress Natalka Denisenko recently shared a touching moment with her son, who expressed a desire for even more affection. This highlights the universal challenges parents face in balancing their children's needs with their own well-being.
