A petition has appeared in Kyiv to rename the metro station 'Akademmistechko' to 'Vasyl Stus', which has already gathered over 700 signatures. The petition was published by Serhii Shevchenko on the official website of the Kyiv City Council on November 19, 2025. To consider this matter, 6000 signatures must be collected within 54 days.

At the moment, 11% of Kyiv residents support this initiative, which amounts to 707 signatures. Vasyl Stus, a Ukrainian poet and dissident, lived on Chornobyl Street in Kyiv during the 1970s and 80s. Supporters of the renaming point out that this is the area where he worked, walked with his son, and was known by his neighbors.

'This is the real space of life for a great poet,' emphasize the authors of the petition.
