Cyber Police warns: how to avoid falling victim to fraud when obtaining a driver's license

According to ХВИЛЯ: The Cyber Police and service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs warn about fraud when ordering a driver's license online. Fraudsters create fake websites to collect money and personal data, which can lead to serious consequences for citizens. The use of counterfeit documents falls under part 4 of Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. A fine for using such documents can result in imprisonment for up to two years.

New Changes in Issuing Driver's Licenses

Starting from August 1, 2024, driver's licenses will be issued on updated forms that will contain a unique combination of three letters and six digits. This initiative aims to enhance security and reduce instances of fraud. Additionally, from April 2024, registration certificates will feature a QR code, allowing quick verification of the authenticity of documents.

To obtain a driver's license, one must pass a theoretical exam and a practical part in the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Users are advised to verify the legitimacy of documents through the online service on the GSC MIA website. For consultations, the phone number (044) 290-19-88 is available. Citizens must be careful and vigilant to avoid fraudulent schemes when obtaining a driver's license.

This situation highlights the importance of citizens' caution when processing documents, especially in the face of increasing cybercrime.
