Traffic Restrictions in Kyiv
According to Главком: Kyiv will implement partial, phased traffic restrictions on several bridges and overpasses on March 3 and 4 to allow for emergency road surface repairs. The work will be carried out by the municipal enterprise Kyivavtoshliakhmist. The schedule may be adjusted if weather conditions deteriorate. These urgent repairs highlight the ongoing challenges of maintaining the city's aging infrastructure.
Repair Schedule
On March 3, repair work will take place at the following locations:
- The Southern Bridge;
- The overpass over the railway tracks on Kharkivske Highway;
- The overpass at the intersection of Bratislavska and Sholom-Aleikhema streets;
- The overpass at the intersection of Myropilska Street with Brovarskyi Avenue and the Sviatoshynsko-Brovarska metro line near the Chernihivska metro station;
- The overpass at the intersection of Brovarskyi Avenue with the Darnytsia – Pochaina railway station.
On March 4, repairs will continue on the Yevhen Paton Bridge, which has reached a critical technical state. The 72-year-old bridge has been in an emergency condition since 2017. A recent inspection by the V.M. Shymanovskyi Institute of Steel Structures documented new, concerning findings. As noted by Viacheslav Bohdanov:
'The Paton Bridge, which is already 72 years old, has been in an emergency state since 2017.'
The repairs are essential for ensuring road safety. The restrictions on these key Kyiv arteries underscore the necessity of urgent maintenance work. The Paton Bridge, one of the capital's oldest, requires particular attention due to its worrisome technical condition. These works are likely to impact daily traffic and commuting convenience, so drivers are advised to plan their routes in advance.
