Hazardous Weather Conditions Forecast for Kyiv and the Surrounding Region

According to Главком: The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has issued a yellow-level weather warning for Kyiv and the Kyiv region on January 25, citing dangerous conditions including icy roads. This level of alert indicates potential impacts on public utility services and traffic flow. Cloudy skies and light snow are also expected to exacerbate the situation. Yellow is the second of three alert levels in Ukraine's weather warning system, advising the public to be cautious.

Weather Forecast Details

In the Kyiv region, overnight temperatures are forecast to range from -8°C to -13°C (17.6°F to 8.6°F), with daytime highs between -4°C and -9°C (24.8°F to 15.8°F). Within the city, temperatures will be slightly milder, from -8°C to -10°C (17.6°F to 14°F) at night and -5°C to -7°C (23°F to 19.4°F) during the day. A predominantly southeastern wind of 5-10 m/s is expected. The coldest temperatures in the coming days are predicted for western, northern, and northeastern Ukraine, while the south and Zakarpattia will experience less severe cold.

Additionally, due to the deteriorating weather, the main state flag is being temporarily lowered at the territory of the Memorial Complex 'National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War'. As noted by the Hydrometeorological Center, 'weather conditions may lead to complications for energy, construction, and utility enterprises, as well as for transport.'

The yellow-level warning highlights potential risks that could affect the daily lives of residents in the capital and the region. The forecasted severe conditions require special attention from drivers and pedestrians and may cause delays for road maintenance and infrastructure services. It is important for citizens to follow official safety recommendations during this period of adverse weather.
