Heating Restoration Efforts Underway in Kyiv

According to Главком: Kyiv is struggling to restore heating to residential buildings due to a widespread lack of electricity. Municipal services are working to reconnect power as a prerequisite for resuming heat. Dmitry Naumenko, director of Kyiv's Department of Housing and Communal Infrastructure, explained that in many residential buildings and at central heating points, restoring heat is impossible without a stable electrical supply. This situation highlights the critical interdependence of Ukraine's energy and heating systems, especially during winter.

Massive attacks on January 9th caused emergency power outages across Kyiv, and a subsequent assault on January 13th created an even greater electricity deficit. This has significantly complicated the process of restoring the city's heating supply. Naumenko noted that there is a clear action protocol for when heat supply is interrupted during extremely low temperatures. He emphasized that in all buildings where heating is currently absent or was temporarily suspended, it will be restored as the technical capability exists.

Ongoing Power Supply Issues

During these attacks, over 9,000 residents utilized mobile resilience points set up by the State Emergency Service. City services continue to work on resolving the power supply issues to ensure comfortable conditions for the capital's residents.
