According to Главком: Since January 9th, several apartment buildings in Kyiv's Teremky district have been without heating, leading to damage in water and sewage pipes. Temperatures in basements have dropped to near freezing, threatening the integrity of the utility networks. To prevent further destruction, residents of Teremky have taken matters into their own hands, managing to raise the temperature in one basement to +10°C overnight despite the frigid conditions. This crisis is unfolding during a harsh Ukrainian winter, where such infrastructure failures pose severe risks.

This situation is a direct consequence of a wider utility crisis triggered by a massive attack on January 24, 2026. The Desnianskyi district has been at the epicenter of this disaster, where approximately 600 high-rise buildings in the Troieshchyna area were left without electricity, water, and heating.

City Authorities Respond

In response, city authorities are deploying additional 24-hour heating shelters to support residents facing these difficult circumstances.
