According to Главком: A court in Kyiv has sentenced a 45-year-old man to seven years and five months in prison for killing his younger brother during a violent argument. The incident occurred in an apartment in the Solomianskyi district, where the brothers, aged 42 and 45 at the time, had been drinking together. The trial concluded in the capital, establishing the full circumstances of the crime. Such domestic violence cases are a persistent challenge in the region.

During the conflict, the older brother broke a glass bottle and struck the younger man with it multiple times. The victim died on the spot from stab and slash wounds to his abdomen and leg. The attacker was detained under Article 208 of Ukraine's Criminal Procedure Code and remained in custody throughout the pre-trial investigation. The Solomianska District Prosecutor's Office filed the indictment, and the court found the man guilty of a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 121 of Ukraine's Criminal Code.

Podil District Murders

In a separate case, the Kyiv Court of Appeal has upheld a life sentence for a man and a 13-year term for a woman convicted of murdering two girls in the Podil district. The bodies of the 19-year-old and 16-year-old victims were discovered in a closet on a balcony, bound with tape and showing signs of multiple stab wounds. These events took place in January 2020.
