According to Главком: A 46-year-old man driving a Lada under the influence of alcohol was arrested by Kyiv police after causing a multi-vehicle collision on Beresteiskyi Avenue. The accident left a female passenger seriously wounded. According to authorities, the Lada driver failed to maintain a safe distance and rear-ended a Tesla. The Tesla driver then lost control and crashed into a Volkswagen. The Lada's passenger, a 40-year-old woman, suffered a severe injury when a piece of glass severed her jugular vein; she was hospitalized in critical condition.

The driver was found to be intoxicated, with a Drager breathalyzer reading of 2.48 parts per thousand of alcohol in his blood. He was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and has been notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries a penalty of up to 8 years in prison.

Fatal Crashes in Ukraine

In a separate incident, a deadly traffic accident occurred in the Vinnytsia region on May 30, claiming the lives of a mother and her 12-year-old daughter. A 47-year-old woman driving a Toyota crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a DAF truck. The truck driver, a 38-year-old man from the Zhytomyr region, was unharmed.

Additionally, on May 31, a fatal crash took place in the village of Pravdivka in the Khmelnytskyi region. A Mercedes truck veered off the road, struck two parked cars, and crashed into the wall of a café. One woman was killed, and two other people were injured in the accident.
