Kyrylo Budanov Affirms Ukraine's Commitment to Fight as Long as Necessary Amid Russian Aggression Since 2014

The Ongoing Conflict Between Ukraine and Russia

According to ХВИЛЯ: Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Ukrainian President's Office, told Latvian broadcaster LSM that Ukraine is prepared to continue its fight for as long as it takes due to Russia’s open aggression, which began in 2014 and escalated dramatically in 2022. He stressed that Ukraine has no alternative but to defend its land, people, and future.

Budanov emphasized that

“we did not initiate this war,”

reminding that Russia launched an unprovoked and open attack against Ukraine back in 2014. When asked how long the conflict will last, he responded,

“unfortunately, for as long as necessary,”

reaffirming Ukraine’s determination to persist.

Unwavering Resolve to Defend Sovereignty

Budanov also highlighted that

“Ukraine will continue. There is no other choice because we are fighting for what is ours - for our people, our territory, and our future.”

He further noted that while Russia may decide to retreat or not,

“we stand firm on our own soil, and no one has the right to simply hand over our land to someone else.”
