Prospective Trilateral Meeting Among Russia, US, and China Leaders

According to 5 канал: China is arranging a potential trilateral meeting involving the heads of Russia, the United States, and China during the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Shenzhen. This development was disclosed by Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian president, who indicated that the idea emerged following talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.

Ushakov emphasized that the Chinese side is actively coordinating this high-level encounter and intends to incorporate it into the official agenda for the Shenzhen summit, provided circumstances allow. All parties involved remain open to the concept of such a summit, signaling a shared willingness to engage in dialogue and collaboratively address pressing international issues.

European Union's Anticipation

Earlier, the European Union expressed expectations for discussions stemming from the Witkoff-Putin meeting held in Saint Petersburg. EU Commission spokesperson Paula Pinheiro confirmed these expectations in Brussels on October 21. During the meeting, Witkoff described Putin as a humanitarian and announced the release of 74-year-old American citizen Steven Habbard, who had been detained for over four years on allegations related to fighting alongside Ukrainian forces. This release was publicized at the start of Witkoff's encounter with Putin.

“Our Chinese hosts, who are organizing the APEC summit, have already begun preparations and, if conditions are favorable, will certainly include this meeting in the Shenzhen program,” Yuri Ushakov stated, affirming the intention to hold this significant trilateral dialogue.

If realized, the summit at APEC could serve as a crucial forum for dialogue on key global challenges and strengthen diplomatic ties between Russia, the US, and China.

Given the current tensions between the US and Russia and China's influential role as a mediator in international affairs, this meeting holds the potential to significantly impact global politics. In light of recent events-such as the release of the American detainee-this trilateral summit may mark an important step toward improving relations among these major powers and addressing urgent worldwide concerns.

This potential trilateral summit reflects ongoing efforts to foster dialogue among global leaders, particularly in light of recent developments regarding the Ukraine crisis.
