China's Military Exercises near Taiwan

According to Главком: China has launched large-scale military exercises near Taiwan in response to foreign interference and to protect its sovereignty. These comprehensive maneuvers, dubbed 'Mission Justice-2025', will commence on Monday. China's actions are a reaction to the recent approval by the USA of military aid sales to Taiwan worth $11.1 billion, making it the largest arms package in history for this region.

China's Fundamental Interests

The Chinese side emphasizes that the Taiwan issue is a fundamental interest of China. Official spokesman Lin Jian stressed that

“These are necessary actions to protect national sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

He also added that China is firmly committed to protecting its national sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

Furthermore, China is revising its military doctrine, analyzing Russia's mistakes in its war against Ukraine. In this context, the PRC has shifted from short-term operational concepts to a 'total war' strategy, indicating significant changes in approaches to military planning and response to threats.

These military exercises underline the escalation of tensions in the region and demonstrate China's readiness to respond to actions by the USA, which it views as a threat to its sovereignty. At the same time, changes in the PRC's military doctrine may indicate new approaches to emerging conflicts and attempts to adapt to modern geopolitical challenges. This could have serious implications for stability in the region and for relations between China, the USA, and Taiwan.
