Beijing Rejects Claims of Hosting Russian Troop Training

According to Главком: China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially dismissed a Reuters report alleging that Russian military personnel received covert training on Chinese territory. Beijing labeled the story an attempt to shift blame for the ongoing conflict onto China. The Reuters investigation, based on official documents and testimonies from three European intelligence agencies, claimed that late last year, around 200 Russian servicemen secretly underwent training conducted by China’s armed forces.

According to Reuters, after completing the program, some of these troops returned to the front lines in Ukraine to continue fighting. The alleged training of Russian soldiers inside China would mark a new phase in military cooperation between the two nations. Notably, Chinese military personnel have been traveling to Russia for training since 2024. This report emerges amid heightened scrutiny of Sino-Russian ties and their implications for the war in Ukraine.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson emphasized that 'on the Ukraine crisis, China has consistently maintained an objective and impartial stance, actively promoting peace talks.'

The statement further added that 'parties to the conflict should not deliberately stoke confrontation or shift blame onto others.'
