Germany appoints Jurgen Klopp as head coach following Nagelsmann's dismissal
Jurgen Klopp set to become Germany's new head coach
According to Главком: Jurgen Klopp has reached a preliminary agreement with the German Football Association (DFB) to take over as head coach of the national team. The contract is expected to be signed next week, once Klopp's departure from Red Bull GmbH-where he has been working since leaving Liverpool in 2024-is finalized. The DFB has already settled all major terms with Klopp, with the deal previously reported to run through 2030.
Julian Nagelsmann let go after World Cup exit
Julian Nagelsmann, the previous Germany manager, was dismissed after the team was eliminated from the 2026 World Cup in the round of 32. Die Mannschaft lost to Paraguay in a penalty shootout (3–4) following a 1–1 draw in regular time. Nagelsmann, who had been in charge since 2023 and was the youngest head coach at the 2026 World Cup, personally asked the DFB to relieve him of his duties. His contract had been set to run until mid-2028.
“I am ready to continue if that’s what they want. If they don’t want me in this position, they need to tell me. I’m not the type to run away. I want to keep going, but in football, not everything is in your hands. If the German Football Association (DFB) wants me to, I will prepare the team for the European Championship and the Nations League.”

Klopp brings extensive high-level experience and a proven track record in club football, which could inject fresh energy into the squad. His mission will be to prepare the team for upcoming tournaments, including the European Championship and the Nations League, requiring quick adaptation and the implementation of new strategies. Klopp has the opportunity to introduce innovative ideas that could be key to Germany's success in the near future.
