Virtual Summit of the 'Coalition of the Willing' in Support of Ukraine

According to Главком: On February 24, leaders from more than 30 nations forming the 'coalition of the willing' convened a virtual summit to support Ukraine. The participants reaffirmed their commitment to developing security guarantees for the country, condemned Russian aggression, and called for peace negotiations. The meeting included:

  • UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer,
  • French President Emmanuel Macron,
  • German Chancellor Friedrich Merz,
  • leaders from Nordic and Baltic states,
  • and representatives of the European Union and Croatia.

European Parliament Adopts Resolution

In a related move, the European Parliament passed a resolution marking the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The document states that Europe's strategic goal is Russia's military defeat, Ukraine's victory, and its full membership in the European Union. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized the importance of countering disinformation suggesting Russia is winning the war.

This international support comes as Ukraine continues to defend its sovereignty. Over the past year, Russia has managed to seize only 0.8% of Ukrainian territory, a testament to the resilience of the Ukrainian people and sustained international backing.

The summit and the parliamentary resolution underscore a continued global unity in support of Ukraine. They demonstrate that the international community is actively working to establish strategic security mechanisms for Ukraine and is committed to securing its future within the European family. The situation in Ukraine remains a focal point for world leaders, with these developments likely to influence the ongoing conflict and diplomatic efforts in the region.
