Ex-Prosecutor Kravchenko Declares 22.8 Million UAH Kozyn Home as NABU Probes 'Carthage' Case
Ruslan Kravchenko's Post-Tenure Asset Declaration
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: Following his dismissal, former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko submitted a financial declaration listing a rented residence in Kozyn valued at 22.8 million UAH, alongside a gas power station worth 1.1 million UAH. The declaration specifies that the leased property spans nearly 300 square meters, with the land beneath appraised at 3.1 million UAH.
Recordings from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) have referenced this house. Ownership is registered to a 73-year-old woman who recently established herself as a sole proprietor. The property’s renovations were managed by Serhiy Kropyva, a trusted associate of Kravchenko. According to a representative from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), Kropyva was allegedly instructed to install a gas generator with a capacity between 30 and 50 kilowatts.
Investigation Details and Corruption Allegations
Among the improvement works discussed for the residence were:
- security alarm installation;
- surveillance cameras;
- a fireplace;
- replacement of household appliances;
- fixing issues related to an ice generator.
The gas power station used by Kravchenko is owned by the agricultural company “Svitanok,” where his wife is officially employed.
On September 4, 2023, NABU and SAPO initiated investigative actions in the 'Carthage' case, targeting a criminal group led by an official from the Prosecutor General’s Office. The following day, authorities announced the dismantling of a network whose members received and laundered funds from fraudulent call centers. The investigation revealed that this organization was formed in mid-2025 by a Prosecutor General’s Office official with the involvement of prosecutors and close associates who accepted bribes to ignore the call centers’ activities.
On September 6, the High Anti-Corruption Court ordered Serhiy Kropyva to be held in custody with an alternative bail set at 120 million UAH. Meanwhile, Kravchenko denied any involvement in shielding the deceptive call centers. A SAPO prosecutor noted that Kropyva likely oversaw the renovation works at Kravchenko’s Kozyn property.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts to combat corruption in Ukraine, especially involving high-ranking officials and their connections to criminal enterprises. Uncovering such schemes demonstrates the vigilance of law enforcement agencies and has significant implications for public trust in government institutions.
