Confrontation Between Igor Kolomoisky and the Judge

According to Главком: A courtroom argument erupted between Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky and the presiding judge over the decision to halt a live broadcast of the proceedings. Kolomoisky, who is currently in pre-trial detention on suspicion of financial crimes related to the alleged siphoning of funds from PrivatBank, became the central figure in this dispute. His case is being closely watched internationally as a test of Ukraine's judicial reforms and anti-corruption efforts.

Footage of the confrontation was published by the platform stopcor_org, a fact confirmed by the news agency GLAVKOM. In the video, Kolomoisky directly challenges the judge, demanding:

“Who are you reporting to? Why did you stop the broadcast? Who gave you the order? Who gave you the order to stop it? Why was it stopped now?”

These statements highlight his frustration with the situation and his demand for transparency in the judicial process.

Detention and Legal Repercussions

Igor Kolomoisky remains under arrest with bail originally set at 3 billion 712 thousand hryvnias, though this amount was later reduced. In September 2023, he was formally charged under several articles of the criminal code, including money laundering and fraud. The investigation alleges that between 2013 and 2020, he legalized over half a billion hryvnias by transferring the funds abroad.

Kolomoisky's legal team has also filed an appeal against a ruling by the High Court of London in a case brought by JSC CB PrivatBank. The court has accepted the appeal for consideration and suspended the enforcement of the first-instance court's decision. A subsequent hearing, initially scheduled for December 8 and 9, has been postponed to December 11. This situation continues to generate significant public interest as one of the most high-profile financial cases in recent Ukrainian history.

The ongoing saga surrounding Igor Kolomoisky remains a focal point due to its implications for Ukraine's financial stability and the credibility of its state institutions. The case carries serious consequences not only for the businessman himself but also for the future of PrivatBank, which suffered major losses due to the alleged activities. Further developments, particularly the appeal in London's High Court, could significantly impact Ukraine's financial markets and its investment climate.
