Ukraine's Constitution Translated into Sign Language for the First Time in Full
Complete Sign Language Version of Ukraine’s Constitution Now Available
According to Пенсії (RSS): To mark the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Constitution, a full translation into Ukrainian Sign Language has been completed. This major initiative was carried out to make the country’s foundational legal document accessible to people with hearing impairments. Nine interpreters, each fluent in different regional dialects of Ukrainian Sign Language, contributed to the effort.
Experts in Law and Sign Language Collaborated on the Project
The translation team also included specialists in both Ukrainian Sign Language and legal studies. Their combined expertise ensured that the constitutional provisions were rendered accurately and clearly in sign language. The complete translation is now open to the public via a dedicated link.
The project was launched by the civic movement "Social Unity," highlighting the importance of inclusion and equal opportunities for all citizens of Ukraine.
This full translation of the Constitution into Ukrainian Sign Language represents a significant step forward in improving access to legal information for people with hearing impairments.
