Speeding Up Identification of Repatriated Remains

According to Кабмін: Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky has emphasized the urgent need to accelerate the identification process for repatriated military personnel and civilians. He highlighted that eliminating delays and enhancing cooperation between the Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), and Ministry of Defense (MOD) are critical steps. During a meeting with leaders from these ministries, the discussion focused on streamlining procedures from forensic examination to subsequent actions.

Koretsky stressed the importance of maintaining efficiency at every stage to ensure the process moves as swiftly as possible.

“I have instructed that a clear plan for improvements be prepared within one week,”

he declared. Currently, Ukraine operates 21 regional forensic medical bureaus overseen by the Ministry of Health.

Additionally, the 2027 budget proposal allocates over 600 million hryvnias to upgrade these forensic facilities.

“We must ensure families receive accurate information promptly so they can honorably say goodbye to their loved ones,”

the Prime Minister added.

Accelerating the identification of repatriated remains is a vital measure to provide closure and support to bereaved families awaiting definitive news about their relatives. Improving inter-ministerial coordination and increasing funding for forensic bureaus are expected to significantly enhance this process.
