Ukraine, Russia, and the U.S. Consider New Round of Talks

According to Главком: Moscow has expressed a desire to hold a new round of three-way negotiations involving Ukraine, Russia, and the United States. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that a specific date for the meeting has not yet been set. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had indicated that a meeting was planned for next week in either Switzerland or Turkey, but it has been postponed due to the war in the Middle East. These potential talks are part of ongoing, though sporadic, diplomatic efforts to address the conflict.

Dmitry Peskov emphasized that contacts with American representatives are ongoing and noted:

"We continue to highly value the readiness of the United States of America to provide mediation services in the search for a peaceful settlement around the Ukrainian crisis." - Dmitry Peskov

He added that "there is nothing to report regarding specific agreements on the date and time of its holding." Peskov also offered the opinion that stabilizing energy markets would be impossible without significant volumes of Russian oil.

For his part, Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the Ukrainian delegation involved in the peace negotiations. He stressed that "the issue of territories can only be resolved at the level of presidents."

Uncertainty Prevails

Consequently, the situation surrounding the trilateral talks remains uncertain, with future steps dependent on developments both in Ukraine and on the international stage.

The current impasse highlights the profound difficulty of achieving a peaceful settlement. The postponement of the planned meeting demonstrates how external factors, like the Middle East conflict, can disrupt diplomacy. While the importance of American mediation underscores the role of international actors, the ongoing ambiguity over the timing and location of negotiations risks delaying any progress toward peace. The subsequent actions of all parties will be crucial for determining the course of events in the region.
